VCSELs and Cavity Solitons
The CNQO group has pioneered theory and numerical modelling of laser devices to characterise their nonlinear features such as pattern formation and spatial solitons .
Recent work has focused on Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers with frequency selective feedback in collaboration with Ackemann’s group. Interaction of laser cavity solitons reveal unexpected locking behavior .
Cavity solitons in lasers can display phase singularities in their centre where the intensity is zero. They are known as vortex cavity solitons .
